Planting Seeds For Change

If you are hoping to lose weight, rebuild your health, regain your eyesight, learn a new skill, create a successful business, or achieve any large or small dream, the only way to do it is one step at a time, one day at a time, keeping your eye on the desired outcome.

It’s like creating a garden.

Planting seeds, nurturing the soil and waiting for the seeds to grow requires patience, perseverance and trust. But, the benefits are worth every ounce of effort. When you see it through to completion, you receive the greatest sense of accomplishment and many worthwhile rewards for your efforts.

Don’t get caught up in our microwave society. Great things don’t always come to you in 30 minutes or less. Very rarely is there a magic pill. Be willing to wait for the beautiful blooms, the fruits of your labor will be seen soon enough.

I planted flower seeds 4 months ago. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I woke to find this beautiful bloom looking back at me from my little container garden.

What do you want to create today so you can begin reaping an abundance of rewards before summer arrives?

So much can happen! Allow yourself a moment to dream. Then, take the first step.

Cooked Food Cravings: Why Do They Happen?

During a recent email consultation, a great question was asked that I thought would really benefit all of you. With permission, I’m posting the question along with my answer.

 Q. I’ve had another off day today – I was doing really well, however my stomach was hurting so I decided to slow everything down a little & added in 3 small cooked potatoes into my salad for dinner. Anyway, that sparked off some huge cravings within me, and I ended up snacking on some potato chips & a bit of chocolate before going to bed !!!!!!!!!!! NOT happy about that!!

However, it’s gone now so I won’t make that mistake again tomorrow – I guess I should have eaten some fruit when those cravings took hold, I just didn’t think of that option at the time. Doug Graham always says to eat fruit when a craving takes hold.

Do you know why cooked foods cause craving within us, as I was completely taken by shock this evening when I was craving so badly after only 3 small potatoes? Normally on this diet, when I’m totally 100% I don’t get any cravings at all, so I was very shocked by this.

Anyway, I won’t do this again tomorrow so I know already tomorrow will be a better day. And I’m growing in tolerance of myself because I’m seeing this journey this time around as more of a process rather than it having to be totally perfect all the time – I’m accepting that I’ll have messy days, as long as I stick to the plan, then it’ll all come good in the end, and that’s the difference this time round, no matter what happens, I’m back on the plan the next day.

 A. You asked a great question, one that has multiple answers. Cooked foods can be addictive and may cause cravings for many reasons.

There are so many emotions and memories connected to the food we eat and most of it is very positive. These wonderful experiences make it easy to associate food with feeling good. Every culture uses food and spices during celebrations and holidays as part of tradition, to create a certain mood or vibe which we become very attached to. We find joy in preparing foods that our parents or grandparents made because it brings back fond memories of the past. In our constant desire to feel better, especially while detoxing, it’s easy to be drawn to the foods of our past that are associated with making us feel good. There are even certain experiences that conjure cravings for specific foods in an instant. For example, the male population may get really excited as the World Series approaches and all they can think about is hot dogs and beer. The female crowd, however, will most likely relate to a chocolate craving sparked by a television or print image, that tantalized them until they satisfied that desire.

Sometimes food, like the potatoes for you, may trigger past memories that are connected to other foods, which could be what led you to potato chips and then chocolate. As a child, my summer holidays were often spent eating potato salad, Pringles or Lay’s potato chips and chocolate fudgsicles for dessert! I used to love these foods and they’re all associated with great memories for me. Subconsciously, it’s normal to want to re-create those positive feelings, and just like music can take you back in time to a specific place or feeling, it can also be done with food.

Another interesting fact is cows milk and wheat both contain opioid peptides which are highly addictive just like opiate drugs. According to Wikipedia, “Opioid peptides are short sequences of amino acids that bind to opioid receptors in the brain; opiates and opioids mimic the effect of these peptides.” That’s one of the reasons it’s so hard to give up cheese and bread. Just think of all the foods that contain wheat and dairy!

In addition, cooked foods usually contain a lot of excitotoxins which are extremely addictive, as well as damaging to our bodies. Here’s a short list, just to name a few, that you’ll likely recognize.

Monosodium glutamate

Malted barley flour

Hydrolyzed protein

Malt extract

Natural flavor(s)

Smoke flavoring(s)

Guar gum

Seasoned salt

Malted anything

Please check out this excellent page for a complete list of these very addicting additives, as well as specific foods they’re found in, along with more detailed information on excitotoxins.

Most of our experiences in life, both good and bad, are connected to food. Unfortunately, food can have a numbing effect on us. When we eat a large meal of difficult to digest or unhealthy foods, our bodies go through a rigorous process to digest it which slows all other bodily processes and mechanisms down. For this reason, it’s become a common habit for many to use food for comfort during difficult times, or simply to avoid the mundane. It’s much easier to indulge in a pint of ice cream than it is to tackle the clutter piling up on the dining room table.

When life becomes painful, some people, instead of processing their emotions and working through it, turn to food for comfort. Dr. Graham says “As one lightens the digestive load by switching to raw foods, the body suddenly has more nerve energy to conduct emotions, and emotions suppressed over the years begin to emerge. This unexpected challenge proves overwhelming for many people. Until people learn to properly deal with their emotional baggage, it is likely that eating raw foods will allow uncomfortable emotions to surface. They will find themselves going back to cooked foods for the emotional “comfort” that they bring.”

When we remove cooked foods, in order to not deal with the emotions, the body and mind do everything to try to convince us to put those foods back into our systems, much like a strong desire for nicotine when a person tries to give up smoking. You may have already experienced the desperate efforts of the body when you tried to go 100% raw for the first time. However, if we can work through our emotions and allow our bodies to detoxify and release those foods and additives, we’ll no longer crave them.

Below is an excerpt from the website about sodium which gives another really good example of why the body reacts with such strong impulses:

“When you eat salty foods, the body has to compensate to maintain homeostasis. If you eat salty foods for a long period of time, as with caffeine, heroin and nicotine, the body becomes dependent on salt to maintain balance. Therefore reducing salt intake can create physical withdrawal.”  …In the form of serious cravings, like potato chips (salt) and chocolate (caffeine).

Definitely reaching for a calorie rich fruit when a craving hits is a great way to get past it. I personally find if I meet or exceed my caloric needs everyday with lots of sweet, delicious fruit, I don’t have any cravings. Also, if you’re craving something salty, it often means you’re low on minerals and need to eat more greens. You should make sure you’re eating a good variety of greens on a regular basis and this will help with cooked food cravings as well. This is where the more savory raw dishes come in handy too.

Looking at this as a journey is the right way to go. It’s very wise to be patient and give yourself room to breathe and grow. Acceptance will surely pave the way for a much smoother ride.

It’s a very strange feeling once we finally let go of cooked food. I feel it’s very similar to letting go of a wonderful, long term relationship that was really good while it lasted but is no longer serving you. Everything about that person is great but your interests and goals in life have changed and staying would only hold you back. You still think about that person and sometimes wish you could spend more time with them but you know it would only complicate things. That’s how I felt in the beginning, letting go of cooked food. But like the relationship, I eventually got over it.

You absolutely have the right attitude regarding your diet. After having some cooked food, you recognize that you’d prefer not to do that and start fresh right where you left off. No regrets. This is a process, one that’s different for everyone, but if we just pick up the pieces and learn from our experiences, things can only get better. Take it one day at a time, one meal at a time and eventually, when you’re ready, it all falls into place.

The Truth About Fat

There is so much confusion surrounding the subject of fat in the diet. I’d like to help clear things up.

Some people have commented recently on a few of my videos asking why I say healthy fat is bad. The truth is, I never said healthy fat is bad. Healthy fat is just that, it’s fat, and too much of any fat, healthy or not, is not good. It’s the ‘too much’ part that people are missing.

Bottom line, it’s not that healthy fat is bad, it’s only when you eat too much of it that you begin to experience problems.

Aside from the most commonly asked question “Where do you get your protein?” – the other major concern is “How can you eat so much fruit without getting diabetes or other blood sugar issues?”

The reason I can eat so much fruit and not have any blood sugar issues is I don’t eat more than 10% of my calories from fat. If I were to sit around eating large handfuls of nuts all day or loading up on bowls of guacamole, then I would have reason for concern.

When the body is balanced, fed properly with plant foods, with concern for the right amount of carbs, protein and fat, plus properly hydrated, then blood flows freely and effortlessly through the body. The arteries are clear and our cells are properly nourished and hydrated. When the balance is disrupted by a consistent increase in fat intake or high levels of protein, the synergy is thwarted and we begin to set the stage for illness.

When the body is overloaded with fat, the blood becomes thick and insulin is prevented from delivering glucose to the cells. To give you a better example, let’s take a look at it this way . . .

Think of your bloodstream like a highway. It allows different vehicles to travel on it’s vessel roads to deliver necessary goods (nutrients) throughout the body. Insulin is one of those vehicles traveling the red highway and could be considered a special delivery service delivering valuable food to the needy, which represents glucose for the cells. Eating excessive

fat could be compared to a bad snow storm creating bad road conditions and traffic jams. This “blockage” prevents the delivery service from getting through to deliver the food to the needy, (your cells). Those needy cells are then left starving and have no energy to function properly.

The police and fire personnel represent Candida which are always present in the blood. They get paid to keep things safe and in order. Cars represent sugar. The harder it snows, the more traffic violations, accidents and slow-downs there are, the more police and fire personnel show up to clear up the roads and make things safe again.

So there’s always Candida yeast in the blood. It’s designed to be there and it feeds on the sugar in the blood. That’s the job of Candida. When an excess of fat is consumed, it creates excess sugar in the blood. The Candida yeast are then forced to grow and expand to be able to consume the excess sugar in the blood and balance out your levels so you don’t die. This excess yeast is what creates all those uncomfortable symptoms traditionally diagnosed as Candida Albicans.

If these hazardous conditions continue over and over, eventually the pancreas and adrenal glands get taxed beyond their capabilities and diabetes or other problems set in. However, if you keep your fat intake low by only consuming a small amount of healthy fats, the body remains in balance and there’s no concern for dis-ease.
So, enjoy your healthy fats but do so in moderation.

Recently, a blog post of mine on a popular raw food forum, regarding my experience with parasites was removed because it wasn’t in line with their guidelines. I respect their wishes but feel this information is very important because there are many people with parasites who have tried everything from drugs, herbs and essential oils, to a strict raw food diet, and even water fasting, with no success. I personally struggled for quite some time and finally found a solution that worked extremely well for me, as well as for my husband and other family members. Most people struggle for so long and often have no idea why. And, even if they do know why, they cannot find a solution.
My Story
My husband and I were both diagnosed, through stool tests, with parasites on two separate occasions. I’ve never been one for taking medications, but reluctantly, the first time we were diagnosed we took prescription medication to get rid of them. It seemed to work temporarily but we were then diagnosed months later with completely different parasites. We decided prescriptions were out, because they obviously weren’t going to keep the parasites away and we needed a solution.
It’s been a long trial and error process, but we finally found a lasting solution and the parasites are gone.
We tried taking herbs for months and achieved decent results but they weren’t perfect and their effects certainly didn’t last. We also had uncomfortable side effects of anxiety and general discomfort throughout the whole process. Each time we would finish a cycle of herbs, about a week later, our symptoms would return. I was SO frustrated and really started to feel hopeless. However, searching online, I found people having success with parasite zappers and felt we had nothing to lose, so we bought a couple and gave it a shot.
The parasite zappers we purchased emit a low level electrical current throughout the body killing bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites, etc. without killing off your good bacteria. I don’t know exactly how it all works, I just know that it does.
After wearing the zapper for only about 14 hours, when I woke the next day, my body felt completely different. I felt like I had taken a muscle relaxer. My body was so relaxed and at peace for the first time in a very long time. After that, things just continued to get better.

My digestion is much stronger. I don’t have the constant bloating discomfort I was experiencing 24/7 and everything seems to be working very smooth regarding my digestion. My vision had become really bad during the time I had parasites and it’s improved a lot. It got to the point where I couldn’t read anything without my glasses and now I’m back to reading everything without them. I was also having weird headaches which went away as well.

For nearly a year, my husband was experiencing muscle tightness, pain and severe swelling in his hands, wrists, knees and feet. After using the herbs, he saw improvement but not 100%. After using the zapper, he’s completely recovered.

We got the basic zappers first, because they were so affordable, and then, I upgraded to the Terminator. We made sure our entire family got a zapper and my dad, who was waking up everyday with arthritic-like pain throughout his body said, after wearing his for a day or two, that he was waking without any pain. He broke his zapper a short time later and was without it while he waited for a replacement and his pain returned, but it disappeared again, when he got his replacement. I found this very interesting.

There are other zappers available on the market but they’re much stronger and you can only use them for a few seconds to minutes at a time because the side effects of the die off can make you really ill, which is why we chose to buy the low level, battery operated zappers. Thankfully, they don’t cause any side effects or discomfort.

It’s very important to change the battery every 4 days because they lose the majority of their power after about 96 hours of constant use. It’s also crucial to clean the copper contacts on the zapper daily, sometimes twice a day if they get really dirty. For best results, along with the above recommendations, you should wear your zapper 24/7 for at least 30 days. The zapper should be removed when bathing.

I believe in these parasite zappers completely and because I was constantly asked if I sell them, I decided I should do just that.

The Basic and Terminator  zappers are safe for use with pets and children. With small children and infants, it’s best for an adult to wear the zapper and hold the child so your bare arm is touching their bare skin to transmit the frequency through skin contact.
If the zapper starts to tingle or itch, you must move the zapper so it doesn’t burn your skin. The only place you cannot get burned is on the bottom of your feet and the palms of your hand. When sleeping, it’s best to wear the zapper in a sock on the bottom of your foot or wrapped in the palm of your hand.
Here’s a video of my personal experience with parasites and the zapper…
Here’s a video on how to clean your zapper and properly remove the battery…
Here’s a parasite update & FAQ video….
Here’s a list of symptoms followed by the ways in which we can contract parasites that was shared with me by my dear friend Mikey, who’s been such a great supporter of my experience and who has generously contributed excellent information regarding this subject. Thank you, Mikey!
*Please note the rest of the information below was not written by me and I have made some suggestions in a couple areas as a healthier option.*

Common Symptoms of Parasites in Humans

Constipation: Some worms, because of their shape and large size. can physically obstruct certain organs. Heavy worm infections can block the common bile duct and the intestinal tract, making elimination infrequent and difficult.
Diarrhea: Certain parasites, primarily protozoa, produce a prostaglandin (hormone-like substances found in various human tissues) which creates a sodium and chloride loss that leads to frequent watery stools. The diarrhoea process in parasite infection is, therefore, a function of the parasite, not the body’s attempt to rid itself of an infectious organism.

Gas and Bloating: Some parasites live in the upper small intestine where the inflammation they produce causes both gas and bloating. The situation can be magnified when hard-to-digest foods such as beans and raw fruits and vegetables are eaten. Persistent abdominal distention is a frequent sign of hidden invaders. These gastrointestinal symptoms can persist intermittently for many months or years if the parasites are not eliminated from the body.

Irritable bowel syndrome: Parasites can irritate inflame, coal, the intestinal cell wall, leading to a variety of gastrointestinal symptoms and malabsorption of vital nutrients, particularly fatty substances. This malabsorption leads to bulky stools and steatorrhea (excess fat in feces).

Joint and muscle aches and pains: Parasites are known to migrate to encyst (become enclosed in a sac) in joint fluids, and worms can encyst in muscles. Once Ads happens, pain becomes evident and is often assumed to be caused by arthritis Joint and muscle pains and inflammation are also the result of tissue damage caused by some parasites of the body’s ongoing immune response to then – presence.

Anemia: Some varieties of intestinal worms attach themselves to the mucosal lining of the intestines and then leach nutrients from the human host. If they are present in large enough numbers, they can create enough blood loss to cause a type of iron deficiency or pernicious

Allergy: Parasites can irritate and sometimes perforate the intestinal lining, increasing bowel permeability to large undigested molecules. This can activate the body’s immune response to produce increased levels of eosinophils, one type of the body’s fighter cells. The eosinophils can inflame body tissue, resulting in an allergic reaction. Like allergy, parasites also trigger an increase in the production of immunoglobulin E (IgE).

Skin conditions: Intestinal worms can cause hives, rashes, weeping eczema, and other allergic-type skin reactions. Cutaneous ulcers, swellings and sores, popular lesions, and itchy dermatitis can afl result from protozoan invasion.

Granuiomas: Granulomas are tumour-like masses that encase destroyed large or parasitic eggs. They develop most often in the colon or rectal walls but can also be found in the lungs liver, peritoneum, and uterus.

Nervousness: Parasitic metabolic wastes and toxic substances can serve as irritants to the central nervous system. Restlessness and anxiety are often the result of the systemic parasite infestation. (After completing a herbal cleanse, many people swear that their persistently grouchy mates or relatives have become a lot more pleasant and patient. “The most famous tapeworm of recent years belonged to the late opera singer Maria Callas. She had a serious weight and skin problem. When the tapeworm was detected and removed, ha” weight dropped, her skin improved and her temperament mellowed,” says Gittleman.)

Sleep disturbances: Multiple awakening during the night particularly between 2 and 3 AM, are possibly caused by the body’s attempts to eliminate toxic wastes via the liver. According to Chinese medicine, these hours are governed by the liver. Sleep disturbances are also caused by nocturnal exits of certain parasites through the anus, creating the intense discomfort and itching.

Teeth grinding: Bruxism – abnormal grinding, clenching, and gnashing of the teeth – has been observed in cases of parasitic infection. These symptoms are most noticeable among sleeping for children. Bruxism may be a nervous response to the internal foreign irritant.

Chronic fatigue: Chronic fatigue symptoms include tiredness, flu-like complaints, apathy, depression, impaired concentration, and faulty memory. Parasites cause these physical, mental, and emotional symptoms through malnutrition resulting from malabsorption of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and especially vitamins A and B-12.

Immunie Dysfunction: Parasites depress immune system functioning by decreasing the secretion of immunoglobulin A (I&A). Their presence continuously stimulates the system response and over time can exhaust this vital defense system, leaving the body open to bacterial and viral infections.

The following conditions might also be tell-tale signs of a parasitic invasion: weight gain, excessive hunger, weight loss, bad taste in the mouth and bad breath, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, acne, migraines, and even the biggest killers: heart disease and cancer.

Causes of Parasites

We can get parasites from food that is not adequately cooked. Meat such as pork and beef that is undercooked is the means of transmission for tapeworms, as is undercooked freshwater fish. Vegetables and fruit may come from the field or the market carrying both protozoan (single celled, microscopic) and metazoan (worm) parasites. Parasites may be added to vegetables and fruit if they are sprayed, rinsed or washed in water that has not been properly filtered. And parasites may be transferred to food by the person preparing the food if impeccable hygiene is not followed. When you eat in restaurants you have a greater chance of ingesting a parasite if you eat uncooked food, such as salads. Cooking food will eliminate most parasites and since cooked food is often handled with utensils, there is less likelihood that the food was handled with bare and perhaps unwashed hands that may have come in contact with a parasite. However, some parasites are tough and can withstand sustained high temperatures as described above in the water category. At home, soak vegetables and fruit for at least 15 minutes in a solution of two ounces of hydrogen peroxide or one ounce of common pure chlorine bleach per gallon of properly filtered water and then rinse off with pure, properly filtered water. (I prefer to wash my food with Grapefruit Seed Extract available at most health food stores or a fruit and veggie wash that contains GSE. Alicia) Wash your hands and scrub under your finger nails before preparing or eating food. This measure of hygiene is even more important if you have pets. Once again, enjoy your food but use common sense and apply your knowledge of appropriate hygiene.

Pets are often hosts to parasites and pets share many parasites with humans. Simply stated, pets are able to lick themselves almost anywhere and then pets groom themselves. Pets love to be petted and humans love to pet them. And so the parasite is passed from pet to person. Again, always wash your hands and scrub under your finger nails after touching an animal and especially before preparing or eating food. Avoid kissing pets or letting them kiss you. And it is wise not to let pets on the bed. It is a good idea to have your pet checked by the veterinarian for parasites on a regular basis. Veterinarians seem to be more adept at finding and treating parasites than human doctors.

Oral genital sexual activity can result in the transmission of some parasites. Be impeccable in your hygiene.

Some parasites can be transmitted through the air. One example is Ascaris Lumbricoides, commonly referred to as roundworm. This worm is estimated to be the most common parasite on the planet, infecting maybe one in five people. While it is more common in other countries, it is very common in the U.S. Female worms may produce 200,000 eggs a day. In areas of poor sanitation, these eggs can survive for a time in relatively dry conditions where the eggs may become airborne and inhaled by a human. This is all that is necessary for that parasite to begin the lifecycle in a human host. The most common parasite in children in the U.S. is considered to be the pinworm, or Enterobius Vermicularis. Female pinworms come out onto the skin around the anus and lay their eggs. This can cause itching. The eggs can remain viable on bedclothes, bedding, underwear, clothing and the dust in the room for days and can be transmitted by direct contact and then into the mouth or through the air. Killing pinworms is not difficult. But getting rid of a pinworm infestation can be if proper care is not taken. Vacuum meticulously. All clothing and bedding should be washed and dried in a hot drier for at least 30 minutes. Chemicals are available that are added to the wash water to kill the eggs. Dry cleaning is also recommended. While getting rid of pinworms, wear underwear that is elasticized so they fit snuggly around the thigh for 24 hours every day until the pinworms have been eradicated. Carefully remove the underwear so that any eggs that might be caught in the fabric are not lost and set them aside to be washed as described above. Change the underwear when you wake up in morning and before bed at night. Remember, the females usually come out to lay their eggs at night.

Hookworms, such as Necator Americanus and Ancylostoma Duodenale can be contracted through the soil as well as from vegetables. These worms can enter a human host by burrowing through skin of the feet if one is in the dirt with bare feet. Be careful about going barefoot. These two hookworms exist in many areas of the world. The range for Necator Americanus includes parts of New Mexico.

Fecal Matter

If you work in areas where contact with fecal matter is possible, such as cleaning toilets or changing diapers, be careful. It has been documented, for example, that giardia has been passed around at some day care centers where children in diapers are cared for.

Although many human parasites are common in the U.S. parasites are much more common in many other countries and so easier to come in contact with. Be meticulous in your habits about hygiene and consumption of food and drinks. Take a portable water filter when you travel. These are available at most camping/outdoors stores and are designed to eliminate Giardia as well as other parasites. Also, build a strong immune system before beginning your travel and regularly take nutritional and herbal products to help prevent getting parasites while you travel.

Hydrochloric Acid

People who produce lower levels of hydrochloric acid in their stomachs either naturally or because of acid reducing drugs are more vulnerable to getting parasite problems. The hydrochloric acid “digests” the protein of the parasitic cysts, eggs or other transmission forms. Discuss hydrochloric acid supplementation or ways of improving your hydrochloric acid production with your kinesiologist. (If you have low hydrochloric acid, the practice of proper food combining can help and if that doesn’t work, water fasting is very helpful. Alicia)

Although picking up pathogens from doorknobs has become a cliché of ridicule, it is certainly possible to come into contact with a number of parasites and other pathogens from doorknobs, toilet seats or any other surface (money perhaps) where people touch. This is even truer if the surface is near a toilet. As an example let’s use Giardia, since it is common and can survive outside the body in a range of conditions for extended periods of time. A person with Giardiasis uses the toilet in a restaurant or at the movies after which they do not wash their hands. This could result in one or more Giardia cysts on their hands and when they open the door to leave the restroom those cysts might be transferred to the doorknob. The next person to touch that doorknob could pick up those cysts. And even though that person has just washed their hands with care, if they return to the restaurant or the movie and eat food with their hands, there is a risk of contracting Giardiasis. While it would be foolish to never venture out into the world for fear of “getting something,” consider developing habits that help protect yourself from the very real possibility of coming in contact with a bug you don’t want. Use your sleeve, or a paper towel or a tissue to open the door as you leave a restroom. Carry small hand sanitizer packets, such as Purell, and clean your hands before eating or touching your mouth and nose. (I do not recommend the use of hand sanitizer. I think it’s best to wash your hands regularly with a natural soap like Dr. Bronner’s and avoid antibacterial soaps. Alicia) Some types of parasites are considered communicable and are more easily passed around in families, relationships and communities. For example, many public health authorities require that cases of Giardiasis be reported.

Parasites are a fact of life. This was well understood by most people in America up to the middle of the twentieth century. Common knowledge about preventive hygiene and annual parasite purges was passed on within families. It is not difficult to evaluate what changing factors in society resulted in the loss of the transmission of that common knowledge. But it has occurred. The parasites continue to thrive. The time has come to raise awareness about how common parasite problems are as well as how to prevent getting them and how to eliminate them when we get them. Resolving a parasite infestation is one of a handful of essential components that is absolutely necessary in order to create a strong foundation from which we can maintain or reestablish our health.

Welcome to the RawSynergy Blog

Let me start by saying, I’m not a doctor, nutritionist or licensed therapist. I’m just a person who’s overcome many different ailments through raw food, lifestyle changes and spirituality. I’m excited about sharing my experiences, especially of the low fat, raw vegan diet, to help inspire others who wish to jump on board and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

When I first made the switch to raw food, I was so concerned about the safety of this diet and unsure of how I would remain committed to a diet of living foods when no one else around me was following this path. Based on the traditional food pyramid model, I was raised to believe I had to eat animal products in order to be healthy. I never dreamed I could survive on fruits and vegetables alone. Fast forward to this moment, after much research and experience, my health is better than ever and my life has changed dramatically in such a positive way, I can’t help but want others to feel and experience the same results.

It doesn’t take much to get on track. Like anything, it starts with the first step. If you have the desire to make a change, moving in the right direction is a whole lot easier. If you begin by incorporating more raw, living foods into your diet, you’re sure to experience positive results. Drop out the white flour, processed foods and sugar and you’ll see even more dramatic changes. Replace soda, coffee and tea with lots of pure, filtered water and watch your energy soar and your mind become clearer. Swap your cooked breakfast with a large meal of fresh, sweet, delicious fruit and experience an ease in digestion, a happier mood and a steady stream of energy throughout your morning. At your own pace, follow the same philosophy for lunch and dinner, including a large green salad with your evening meal.

This is real food! Unprocessed, uncomplicated, life giving, nutritionally rich food. Everything your body needs to thrive. So, just take that first step towards a better you by consuming more raw, living foods and experience the benefits. Perfect health is our birthright not something only a rare few are blessed with.
